Frequently asked questions

Can I walk in for an X-ray?

Many independent clinics accept walk-in X-rays during set hours, but policies differ by location. Always call ahead or check the clinic page walk-in note.

How do I prepare for ultrasound?

Preparation depends on the study. Some abdominal ultrasounds require fasting; pelvic ultrasounds may require a full bladder. Use the clinic prep link on their page.

What should I bring?

Bring your Ontario health card and a signed requisition from your ordering provider unless the service allows self-referral (such as OBSP mammography for eligible ages).

Do I pay for OHIP-covered imaging?

OHIP covers medically necessary imaging when you have a valid referral and health card. Clinics may charge for uninsured or third-party services — ask when booking.
