About diagnostic imaging in Toronto

Toronto has 35 independent diagnostic imaging centres listed on NextAva. These clinics are Ministry-licensed and bill OHIP directly for covered services — you pay nothing out of pocket with a valid referral.

Most clinics in Toronto offer X-ray and general ultrasound. Some also offer vascular ultrasound, bone density scanning (DEXA), and mammography. Availability varies by location and day — check each clinic's current status before calling.

What to bring to your appointment

When arriving at an imaging clinic in Toronto, bring your Ontario health card and your physician’s referral form (requisition). Most clinics require an original signed requisition. If you received a digital requisition from your provider, print it or call the clinic to confirm they accept digital copies.

Certain exams require preparation — fasting for abdominal ultrasounds, a full bladder for pelvic ultrasounds, and so on. Your ordering provider or the clinic will give you specific instructions when you book.
